DIY Storage Shelves

My wife and I have a continuing disagreement – she says we don’t have enough space, I say we have too much stuff. So I can either continue this debate or build a load of storage. Needless to say, I took the easy option…

Our utility room is down some steps so it has high ceilings and an (until now) unused space. I built a shelf out of C16 studwork timber and 18mm MDF, going round 3 sides of the room. Given it’s the utility room I didn’t worry about cosmetics and just focussed on usability, i.e. ensuring it was strong enough to hold the (vast!) amount of stuff we need to store away. Hence relying on shop-bought timber for this project, although I did add a few support struts from some other off-cuts I had.
